My Experience:
I am an accomplished therapist with two decades of experience in various roles within the mental health field. Since 2005, I have dedicated my career to helping individuals navigate through life's challenges, crisis situations and have directed mental health services at a large hospital in Baltimore City for 14 years. For the past four years, I have also provided private therapy, focusing on forming partnerships with clients to foster meaningful change. My passion lies in making a significant difference in the lives of those I serve, and I am committed to supporting your journey toward healing and growth.
SPECIALTIES:
I specialize in providing therapy for adults and adolescents, focusing on individual and couples therapy. My expertise includes addressing relationship issues, stress and trauma, anxiety disorders, ADHD, and addiction. I utilize Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) as my primary therapeutic modality. Additionally, I have experience working with high-profile individuals and executives, ensuring that their privacy and confidentiality are always prioritized.
Education:
I am a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore Campus and I have been licensed since 2005. I am fully licensed in Maryland as an LCSW-C, and in Virginia as an LCSW.
Treatment Approach:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a values-based therapeutic approach that emphasizes the importance of aligning our thoughts, feelings, and actions with our personal values. It consists of six phases that can be learned and practiced independently, allowing individuals to engage with the process in a way that best suits their needs. ACT helps clients develop psychological flexibility and commit to actions that enrich their lives, fostering a deeper connection with what they truly value.

1. Acceptance - Letting go of the struggle to not feel unpleasant thoughts, feelings, emotions, and experiences. It is leaving room to acknowledge unpleasant experiences instead of struggling to avoid or make them go away. It is in the struggle that suffering lives, often making allowing us to feel worse.

2. Cognitive Diffusion - Learning what your relationship is to a particular thought or thoughts as opposed to trying to change your thought or thoughts. Everyone has conducive and detrimental thoughts in accordance to what we value. Our relationship with our thoughts can change our experiences, but the individual remains unchanged.

3. Being Present - Coming into contact with the present moment as a way to ground ourselves to what is happening now. It is a way to enrich our experiences, and serves as a reminder as to why we are thinking, saying and doing in the present moment.

4. Self As Context - Being able to see how we think, feel, and act without judgement. It is the "observing self" as if we were a drone able able to see ourselves from above. The point is to observe and not react so that we may make informed decisions conducive to our values.

5. Values - It is what you say that matters, what is most important, that dictate your Thoughts, Words, and Actions.

6. Committed Action - Aligning your Words, Thoughts, and Actions in a way that supports what you say is important. Living in a way that is guided by your values helps to secure a fulfilling and satisfying way of life.
